Case study: Custom Bathroom Accessories
Background of Customer
A homeowner who is mindful of their budget and in search of bathroom improvements brought us a distinct challenge. The pre-made bathroom accessories were too expensive for her, so she decided to look into personalised options. hoping to find her vision that didn’t over extend her already tight budget and knowing custom made products were generally higher in price she decided to explore the option regardless, which then lead her to our services.
Sketches and specifications for design
After our initial introduction we requested what her ideas were and the type of products that fitted her vision. Find more about our design process by visting our About Us page
1. Rack for hanging towels
The customer gave hand-drawn sketches for a towel holder that appealed to her style. and she requested it to be affordable, and simplicity in the installation process. The client favoured the colour black.
2. holder for toilet rolls
The toilet paper holder needed to match the towel rack in looks.
Maintaining a simple aesthetic was essential in accordance with the client’s vision.
3. Holder for shower accessories
The shower accessories holder’s key feature was its ability to be versatile. It needed to be able to fit different things.
4. Vertical clothes hanger
The client specified that she had limited space and wanted a design to hold garments of the floor.
Procedures in Engineering
Our team emphasized on both functionality and the simplicity of assembly. The aim was to reduce the number of steps required for users to assemble.
SolidWorks and AutoCAD were employed to produce intricate engineering designs and detailed drawings. These exact these drawings laid the groundwork for production.
Our engineers then created CNC files for use with laser cutting and bending machines.
These documents contained cutting paths and fold lines, guaranteeing smooth manufacturing.
Development of Ideas
A feasibility study was conducted to determine if concepts were possible or practical.
We carried out a comprehensive feasibility analysis, evaluating different material choices and design options. Stainless steel and aluminium were selected as the most popular options. The possibility of powder coating was investigated as an extra choice.
Designs were selected based of minimalism appeal based on the clients’ sketches provided.
A quote was then sent to the client for these items, for designs only and one including manufacturing through our partner suppliers. the client chose the latter.
The options chosen were of Stainless Steel that would be powder coated with a specific thickness for aesthetic appeal. This combination also provided the best solution to corrosion resistance making it suitable for a wide range of enviroments.
In Conclusion
The custom bathroom accessories we created together aligned perfectly with the client’s vision. From initial drawings to CNC manufacturing, we provided stylish, practical items that completely changed her bathroom.
We estimate that this process saved our client about 50% if she were to settle for retail items that didn’t quite fit the vision she imagined.
